Sunflower Times #1

Hi everyone! 

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Sunflower Times, the official Sunflower Racing newsletter. Every Sunday, a new issue will come out with an update of what was done each week. 

This week, we have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming Nationals competition. Our Sponsorship team has sent out ask letters to nine new companies. They are hard at work trying to raise $13,000.00 before the National competition. 

Our engineering team ran into some software issues earlier this week, which resulted in a complete car rebuild from scratch. Even with this delay, our stellar engineering team was able to rebuild the car in one week, and is now ready to move into virtual and physical testing phases. 

The graphic design team is hard at work putting together the pit display. This year, they are focused on 3D printing parts of our pit display, in order to come in under budget.  

Additionally, today is March 8th, which marks the 115th celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD)! As an all-girls racing team, this day is extremely important to us. Without the achievements and advancements of other women, both in the past and our present, we would not be able to have the opportunities we have today.

Although we have come a long way on a domestic and global level, many women and girls still face daily challenges due to gender inequality. Never stop pursuing your passions, and continue to make history.
